In the west the unspoilt Namib Desert and coastal plains meet, creating the desolate Skeleton Coast, home to flocks of flamingos and significant seal colonies. The south of the country lays claim to the most spectacular scenery, with the iconic Sossusvlei dunes and the impressive Fish River Canyon. The Central Plateau in the east is Namibia’s geographical heart, home to many of its peoples from diverse ethnic cultures. The wildlife-rich north is famed for Etosha’s silvery pan and water holes teaming with game, and Damaraland’s endangered desert-adapted elephant and black rhino.
